Pearls!

They are classic, chic and they go with everything! But it took me awhile to see the true beauty of pearls. Like many out there, I thought they were for our grandmothers but after I learned more about Coco Chanel I saw the real appeal. Here is some cool history about the gemstone, yes it’s a gemstone.

From the time they were first discovered in the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD) to when they were discovered by the Spaniards in 1607 to now they are that extra something that gives an outfit glamor.

Pearls come in many different shapes and colors. It is that combination which determines the worth. The most coveted pearl is large, round and pure white or white white. This is the largest pearl known, although it is not coveted because of its lumpy shape.

Pearls come in eight different shapes round, semi-round, button, drop, pearl, oval, baroque and circle.

The colors you can find them in are blue, pink, champagne, black and white white just to name a few.

But if you choose to wear the real things which can cost you $50+ easily or the synthetic fake $5+ you will look great! If you want to spend a little and get a lot make sure you do your research. Look at the pearls to see if the color and shape look natural. Go for a smaller size with a pink or champagne hue. Those are my favorite!
