Face Shapes.
When you find out what kind of shape your face is you can find the best hair cut to complement it. There are four main shapes, Round, Oval, Heart and Square. But keep in mind that some articles can categorize up to 9 face shapes. Below are the features that make up each main shape different. But here is a chart to show all 9 shapes.
Round- A round face has a circular look with forehead and checks being the same width that then go slightly in to form the chin. These are fuller faces that give a more youthful appearance. Think Kirsten Dunst.
Best Hair Cuts- Long Wavy or Straight Layers, this breaks up the volume of the face and gives it a softer look. Use wavy or almost straight hair to soften the face. Never have super curly or straight hair because it accentuates the width of the face.
Longer Pixie with soft bangs, the volume on top makes the face look longer and the bangs help break up the round shape.
Anything Asymmetrical, this, like the others, gives the eye more to look at and it breaks up the face.
Oval- Oval faces have a long, slim appearance but they have more weight in the checks which is the widest part of the face. Reese Witherspoon is a great example of an oval face.
Best Hair Cuts- Long Curly Layers, helps break up the length with the volume adding width. Never use super straight or wavy because the length of the hair can elongate the face.
Super Short Pixie- This gives the wearer a more ethereal or fairy look.
Center Part- Can help make the face square looking.
Heart- A broad forehead with matching checks that flow into a pointy chin. Heart shape faces usually have more pronounced check bones because of the shallow-ness of the jaw line. Taylor Swift has a heart shaped face, even though there is debate about her.
Best Hair Cuts-Textured Bangs- Gives a softer line that balances out the chin.
True Bob ending at the chin line- This can add more visual interest around that area.
Long Layers- The length can help lengthen the face.
Square- This face shape is the most attractive on men because it is that chiseled, strong jaw line but it can make a women very powerful. It is catigorized as having a square jaw with an angular chin. Halle Berry is a force to be reckoned with because of her square face.
Best Hair Cuts- Long Straight hair with feathered layers just around the face- The light layers just around the face helps soften the angular shape.
Any hair cut with texture- Breaks up the angular line and gives the eyes more to look at.
Also keep in mind that you can and should wear what you think looks best. Usually you are right on point with what is the most flattering for your face shape.
